Today, as we celebrate School Resource Officer National Appreciation Day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office deputies that serve in our schools. Thank you for your tireless efforts in keeping us safe and for your unwavering commitment to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families. Your presence not only ensures security but also fosters a sense of trust and support within our school communities. We deeply appreciate all that you do.
We were delighted to have the NSU Concert Choir perform for us today as they begin another spring tour through Virginia to Washington, D.C. What an honor to have their musicians debut the beautiful Yamaha C7 Conservatory Series concert piano provided to Gloucester and made possible through the Hampton Roads Community Foundation via the E.K. Sloane Piano Fund. From ancient chant to Vivaldi, traditional African American spirituals to Broadway, we are so thankful this ensemble was able to return to GHS and share their musical journey and inspiration with students from GHS, as well as Page and Peasley Middle Schools.

Based on updated forecasts and the potential severe weather, Gloucester County Public Schools will implement the early dismissal schedule:
Middle Schools: 12:20 pm.
High School: 12:30 pm.
Elementary Schools: 1:30 pm.
Pre-K students will follow the early dismissal schedule and be released at 1:30 pm.
As shared earlier, all after-school activities and tonight's school board meeting are rescheduled for tomorrow, January 10, 2023, at 6:00 pm.
Due to the inclement weather, all afternoon and evening activities have been canceled for Tuesday, January 9, 2024. An additional announcement will be made once a decision has been made regarding tonight's School Board meeting.
Candid Color will be coming in for one final picture retake opportunity for grades 9-11 and staff on January 12th, 2024, from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM.

From December 20, 2023, through January 1, 2024, our division will be closed for Winter Break. Normal operations will resume, and we look forward to welcoming back students and staff on January 2nd. Please note: GHS will observe an asynchronous day on the 2nd and return to regular operations on January 3rd. We wish you all a joyful and restful holiday season!
