As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to work in education.  I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as well as my Master of Arts in Teaching from Christopher Newport University. Immediately after, I began teaching in my hometown, Gloucester County, where I taught second and third grade for 10 years.  During that time, I decided to return to college to acquire my administration certification from the College of William and Mary and am currently in the final stages of obtaining my Ed.D.  I worked as assistant principal in Gloucester for 5 ½ years before becoming acting principal at Achilles and now, as principal of Bethel Elementary School. Chris and I have four children combined- Emilee, 18, Hailee, 14, Mattilyn, 14 and Mattox, 8, and 2 dogs, Diesel and Harlee.  I love baseball, true crime, and Starbucks. But my greatest joy is helping children and teachers grow and learn! I am so excited for this school year and that I am able to continue to serve my community.  It’s going to an amazing year!

Ms. Busch

I graduated in 2009 with a BS in Art Education from Southern Connecticut State University, and a Master of Education in 2022 from the College of William & Mary. I have worked as an Art Educator in public schools for 12 years, 9 1/2 of those within Gloucester County. I grew up in Watertown, Connecticut with my parents,  two sisters, and brother. I moved to South Carolina after graduating and began teaching high school art in North Augusta. After getting married, I moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and taught elementary art in Donaldsonville, LA. My husband Chris is a marine biologist, and his career moved us to Virginia, where we have lived for the last 11 years.  I have three children who attend Gloucester County Public Schools, Joshua (11), Fayelyn (9), Genevieve (6) and our pup Scooby Doo. I love living and working in a small, close-knit community, with a similar feel as the hometown I grew in. Bethel is a wonderful school with faculty, support staff, students, and community members who work hard daily to ensure students have the best educational experience. I began the role of Assistant Principal in January of 2023 and have enjoyed working with students, staff and family here at Bethel. I can’t wait for all of the exciting opportunities to make memories, build relationships, and help our students grow as we welcome both familiar and new Bethel Bears back for the 2024-2025 school year!
